Stuck in between the two hottest destinations of South America: Peru and Colombia, Ecuador is unfortunately usually skipped, but our advice is to not ignore Ecuador!
On the coast, you will find untouched beaches home to whales and surfers, incredible seafood and tasty menu del dia, but also islands occupied by thousands of endemic birds such as the blue-footed boobie. In the centre of the country, the earth reaches some of the highest altitudes on Earth to offer incredible hikes and day-trip adventure in the heart of landscape stuffed with active volcanos and crater lakes.
To the east, once the Andes crossed, you will enter the Amazon and to the south, will find exceptional spots for once in a lifetime experiences such as body-jumping, ziplining, river rafting. Our favourite? The suspended swing at the edge of the world and the hot-water springs for a relaxing evening…
Finally, to the North, the capital Quito is an excellent base to discover traditional cultures, colourful markets and the centre of the world at latitude zero!
